The Region of Belluno hosts many of the most important Valleys of the Dolomites.
ALPAGO: Alpago is well known for its peaks, a fan of summits close to the Venetian plain. In winter, Alpago is the ideal place for ski touring and cross-country skiing. But it offers a wide range of activities: walking tours in the forest of Cansiglio, one of the largest in Italy or wind-surfing and sailing in Santa Croce Lake. In the past, the Cansiglio forest was a resource of wood for the shipyards of Venice, and you can discover the history of that area visiting the ethnographic museum and the typical wooden houses of Cimbri, a German population which occupied that area in the XII century.

AGORDINO: Agordo and its region is a peaceful place where you can enjoy nature and good cuisine. All the main mountain groups, such as Agnèr, Pale di S. Lucano, Civetta, and San Sebastiano Peaks, were declared “World Heritage”. Here you can appreciate the variety of the Dolomites exceptional landscapes, summits, plateaus, and chromatic contrasts typical of those mountains. Agordo is also important for its long tradition of mining. You can still visit the old site of the Imperina Valley Mines in the National Park of the Dolomites. Have a look at the main square where you can admire the seventeenth century Villa Crotta de'Manzoni and the beautiful neoclassical church.

LA VALLE DI ZOLDO: Val di Zoldo is known for “Civetta” skiing area, the biggest in the Veneto region offering 80 kms of ski runs. Mount Civetta is the symbol of an area that joins Val di Zoldo, Val Fiorentina and Agordino and frames the town of Alleghe and its beautiful lake. The entire area is the ideal destination for those who love the mountains, since it offers countless chances for outings, trips and mountain-climbing. The historical and cultural heritage of the valley is of great interest and it offers many cultural itineraries to discover the history and the traditions.

CADORE, AURONZO, MISURINA, VALBOITE: The Cadore region is one of the most beautiful valley of the Dolomites. It is surrounded by peaks such as Pelmo, Antelao, Marmarole, and the very famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Many are the lakes, Auronzo and Misurina the best known. Pieve di Cadore is the birthplace of the famous Renaissance painter Titian (Tiziano Vecellio). In the main square you can still visit his house and his works. Don’t forget the famous “cycle path of the Dolomites” which, following the old railway, in a fairly easy route connects Calalzo, Cortina and Dobbiaco.

COMELICO: Sappada and Comelico are very near to Austria and Friuli so their history, culture and language were influenced by those countries. The Valleys are surrounded by imposing mountains, such as Mount Peralba, the source of the Piave River. Sappada is very famous for his wooden houses and typical architecture and for the Acquatona Waterfalls. Nearby you can have a walk and taste the typical cheese in the Visdende Valley, an untouched oasis covered by more than 6,000 hectares of forest.

VAL BELLUNA: Valbelluna and Feltrino are the most southern areas of the province of Belluno and, therefore, have a mild climate. The landscape includes the sweet hills of Valbelluna to the sharp and wild peaks of Vette Feltrine. All the mountains are a protected area of the National Park of the Dolomites of Belluno. Valbelluna, is also the birthplace of the famous writer Dino Buzzati who described life and nature of these wonderful places in many of his masterpieces.
